Artificial Intelligence in the Business of Law: Lawyering in the 21st Century
Schedule: 3:00-4:15 p.m. CT – November 8, 2018
Legal practitioners understand that artificial intelligence (“AI”) can expedite focused tasks (i.e. document review, preliminary legal research, preparation of routine documents), but there is far less discussion on how AI can fundamentally alter the business and function of legal practice. AI has the potential to transform the law firm model in the areas of staffing, bandwidth, infrastructure, and competitive dynamics—with the capacity to both grow or even shrink sectors. How can small firms take advantage of new business opportunities that AI will provide in the future? Topics will include how AI will affect daily practice, law firm structure, possible clientele, and ultimately, the business of law as a whole. This session is intended to equip firms to evolve with the machines.
